MicroLaserPeel™ is an advanced clinical laser peel that precisely removes a thin layer of skin to a selectable depth. This treatment helps improve skin tone, texture, luminosity, and it can be easily customizable for every patient’s goals. Since only a thin layer of skin is removed, healing times is very rapid.

How does MicroLaserPeel™ work?

The MicroLaserPeel™ procedure uses a laser wavelength that is preferentially absorbed by the water of the epidermis.  The laser immediately heats the water to a high temperature which causes it to vaporize or ablating the skin. MicroLaserPeel™ precisely ablate your skin anywhere from 4 to 50 microns deep. Ablating the top layer of the epidermis helps remove old, tired-looking skin and depending on the depth of the treatment, it will also remove some blemishes such as sun spots and pigment spots. During the healing process new, healthy cells re-grow, improving the overall look of your skin. MicroLaserPeel™ can be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as Sciton’s ProFractional Therapy depending what results the client wants.

What areas can be treated by MicroLaserPeel™?

Many skin areas can be treated with MicroLaserPeel™. Some of the most popular areas are the face, neck, chest, and hands. Your aesthetician will decide the best course of treatment for your specific skin type and needs.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your eyes will be protected with shields or glasses for your safety and your aesthetician may administer a type of anesthetic if needed. During the procedure, the aesthetician will hold the laser handpiece in position as a computer-controlled scanner accurately moves the laser beam over the treatment area. You may hear some snapping or popping sounds as the laser gently removes the outer layer of your skin cells. The procedure can take a few minutes to half an hour or more, it all depends on the size of the treatment area.

Will the procedure be uncomfortable?

The amount of discomfort depends on the depth of your treatment. Very light treatments often need no anesthetic at all.  Deeper treatments may require topical and or local anesthetic if the patient needs it.

What should I expect after treatment?

Some swelling may be present in the treated area after treatment; however, it usually fades away within a few hours to a day. Redness may persist for a few days, but should resolve fairly rapidly. It is important and recommended that you avoid sun exposure, while your skin is healing.  If you must go outdoors, you should cover your treated skin, and use sun block of SPF 30 or higher.

Do I have to wear any type of dressing or bandages after the procedure?

No! Your aesthetician will typically prescribe an ointment such as \ Vaseline or Aquaphor to keep your skin moist for a few day depending on the depth of the treatment.  After that, a moisturizer can usually be used.

How long will it take to recover?

Your healing time will depend on the depth of the treatment and post-treatment care. Healing time may also vary between patients, but you can usually return to your daily activities within a few days of the treatment.

What kind of results should I expect, and how soon can I expect to see them?

Results will be completely visible as soon as the skin heals. Most patients say that a MicroLaserPeel™, even a light one, gives them a healthy and smooth texture to their skin. Often an immediate improvement in skin discoloration will be noticeable and overall color homogeneity of the skin is achieved.

How often should a MicroLaserPeel™ be performed?

Great results are often obtained after one treatment. However, some patients as a personal preference like to have a series of superficial peels to achieve a progressive improvement in their skin coupled with minimal downtime. Typically, a MicroLaserPeel™ can be repeated approximately every 4-8 weeks.

Are there any risks with the procedure?

MicroLaserPeel™ carries very few risks, reasons why it has become a favored method of resurfacing for many. Your aesthetician can provide more information on the risks associated with any type of medical procedure, including MicroLaserPeel™. The best way to reduce the possibility of any complications is to follow the after-treatment care instructions and follow-up schedule provided by your aesthetician. Doing so will help reduce the possibility of any infection and ensure proper healing.
