BBL is a light-based technology that uses pulses of light energy to penetrate into the skin and precisely targets gently, disables and destroys unwanted hair. This new treatment is comfortable and easy for the people that want to get rid of unwanted body hair.

How does BBL work?

BBL treatment delivers excellent photothermal energy resulting in the production of thermal energy (heat) to hair follicles. The aesthetician will be able to tailor the treatment to your skin type and to achieve your ultimate desired results, by selecting the appropriate wavelength for hair reduction (e.g., 590 nm, 640 nm, or 695 nm).

Hair follicles grow in three stages. The first phase is the anagen stage (growth) which is the most vulnerable to the light therapy. BBL heats the full length of the embedded hair follicle eliminating the supply of nutrients, which will disable its growth. Multiple treatments will be given over time to be able to treat the hair when it is in its anagen stage because all hair is not always in the anagen stage at one time. The aesthetician will work with you and design a treatment series just for you, to remove hair in particular body locations desired.

What other non-laser & light-based treatments are available?

There are a few different non-laser hair reduction treatments like shaving, waxing, and hair removal creams are popular and well-known methods for hair reduction, but they are all only temporary. Electrolysis is the traditional go-to treatment for permanent hair reduction. The reason why this method is not as popular as we think it would be its because it can be painful and often very time-consuming. With technology developing fast every day, today the most effective method for hair reduction is lasers or intense pulsed light, which is designed to damage and destroy many hairs follicles at once, results can be seen in a brief period of time with minimal side effects. A lot of people choose laser or light hair reduction because the results are consistent and predictable not like other methods that are temporary.

What areas can be treated?

BBL hair reduction is a safe, fast, and effective method for dealing with unwanted hair. BBL is safe and can be used on any part of the body including( face, neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, arms).

Can tanned skin be treated?

An active tan from tanning beds or the sun is not good for treating with BBL. Tanned skin has a lot of pigmentation or melanin that may also absorb the BBL light energy intended for the hair follicles. You should not get have sun exposure in the area that will be treated for a period of 3 weeks prior to treatment. You should not use Self-tanners at least a week to 10 days before treatment.

How long will it take to recover?

Recovery time will depend upon your actual treatment. In most cases, there is virtually no downtime, and you can go back to your daily activities immediately. You may experience some redness after the procedure it’s normal. The aesthetician will answer questions about temporary changes in your skin color and how it may be camouflaged.
