What results can I expect, and how soon?
About Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is one of the fastest growing cosmetic procedures here in the United States. A specialized kind of laser is used to improve the overall look of your skin. The most commonly treated conditions are deep wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, and uneven skin tone and texture. The Sciton Contour TRL is used to perform resurfacing procedures. This treatment is one of the safest, and most effective resurfacing lasers available today.
Who should consider laser resurfacing?
Any patient who is looking for a visible natural or dramatic improvement in their skin should consider laser resurfacing treatment. Who can benefit the most are those who have deep wrinkles in typically difficult-to-treat areas such as the eyes and around the mouth area have found laser resurfacing to be the go-to treatment for these specific types of conditions.
How does laser resurfacing work?
The laser used in this treatment has a very high attraction to the water in your skin. When the laser energy is applied to the skin, it vaporizes a layer of skin to a depth controlled by your aesthetician. The high water attraction lets the Sciton laser to ablate wrinkles, blemishes and damaged skin, both safely and efficiently. As the skin heals, a new layer of clear, healthy skin replaces the old damaged skin. Laser resurfacing will also stimulate the formation of new collagen, leading to a much stronger dermal foundation and noticeably beautiful firmer skin.
Why choose laser resurfacing over other resurfacing methods?
With the accuracy of a Sciton resurfacing laser, your aesthetician can fine-tune the treatments for a specific amount of downtime depending on what the patient would like. Both patients and physicians find this very helpful. In simple treatments, laser resurfacing has effects similar to chemical peels and dermabrasion, only with much higher accuracy, consistency of results, and predictable recovery methods.

I would highly recommend him to all my family and friends. If you are looking for a reasonably priced and highly proficient plastic surgeon he is your guy. No regrets."- A.G. / Google / Mar 02, 2021
"I have been seeing Dr. Kaplan since 2018. Dr. Kaplan has a very unique personality with a great sense of humor that immediately makes you feel welcomed and at ease. He always starts off by asking you what you’ll like to get done and then he gives you an honest professional opinion based on what he sees and what can benefit you. I have gotten several procedures done with Dr. Kaplan and quite honestly he is the only doctor I trust with my face. Dr. Kaplan’s procedures and treatments on my face have been subtle with a rejuvenated glow! I always tell him “don’t make me look crazy” lol of course he never does! He knows exactly what I need to look freshened up. I totally recommend him! Also the staff (Elizabeth & Christina) are super sweet!"- S.S. / Google / Dec 03, 2020

What will happen during the procedure?
Your eyes will be protected shields or glasses for safety, the aesthetician will also prepare your skin for treatment. During the procedure, the aesthetician will hold the laser handpiece in position as a computer-controlled scanner accurately moves the laser beam over the treatment area. You may hear some snapping or popping sounds as the laser gently removes the outer layer of your skin cells. The procedure can take a few minutes to half an hour or more, it all depends on the size of the treatment area and the depth of your peel.
Will the procedure be uncomfortable?
Your aesthetician will discuss different options for managing any discomfort associated with the treatment. The amount of discomfort depends on the depth of your treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
Some swelling may happen in the treated area, that is normal and can be addressed with cool compresses and making sure to keep the area elevated. Redness may persist in the area of treatment for several days, depending on the depth of the treatment, but will go away over time. It is essential you avoid sun exposure, especially while still healing. If you must go outdoors, you should cover your treated skin, and use sunblock of SPF 30 or higher after the skin has healed.
How long will it take to recover?
Healing time will depend on the depth of your treatment and post-treatment care. Healing time varies from patient to patient. The deeper the treatment, the longer the healing time, but the more dramatic the results. Your aesthetician can provide realistic expectations of downtime based on your specific treatment.
Are there any risks with the procedure?
Generally, resurfacing with a Sciton laser carries minimal risks if any, which is the reason why it has become the most popular method among clients for resurfacing skin. The best way to reduce the possibility of any complications is to follow the after-treatment care instructions and follow-up schedule provided by your aesthetician.
What kind of results should I expect, and how soon?
Your results will depend on the severity of the conditions treated and the depth of treatment. Usually, you will be able to see immediate visible results such as wrinkle reduction, elimination of sunspots, and skin texture improvement as soon as the skin heals. Additionally, you may notice progressive firming of the skin over the next months as the skin’s healing and rebuilding response stimulates collagen remodeling and production, leading to healthier, more supple skin.
