GUIDE
What Is Butt Augmentation?
Many women in the New Jersey and Manhattan area seek buttocks augmentation or the Brazilian butt lift because they want to improve the shape and appearance of their buttocks. This can be done by increasing the size, contouring, lifting, correcting proportional imbalances, as well as improving the firmness of the buttocks. NYC patients may also improve their overall look by removing fat from specific areas, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, and back, and transferring the fat to their buttocks. There is less risk of infection since this is your fat, which will not be rejected by your body. Fat transfers to your buttocks and the fat taken away from other areas through liposuction can create a more appealing shape and natural enhancement with a butt lift procedure for patients in NJ or NYC areas.

- Enhancing the shape, size, and look of the butt
- Eliminating stubborn fat from problem areas
- Recontouring the body

- A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) offers enhanced safety and a more natural feel because it uses your body’s fat
What Is A Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift has become one of the fastest-growing cosmetic surgeries in the U.S. and is currently in popular demand among both women and men. This butt enhancement surgery offers individuals an effective way to achieve shapelier and more defined buttocks without having to use an implant. Significant weight loss, aging, gravity, as well as hereditary characteristics can be the cause of flat and unshapely buttocks. In today’s times, a curvy, rounded rear end is considered desirable. Using your fat, the Brazilian butt lift adds fullness to the butt to create a rounder look. The process is achieved through a careful and precise fat grafting and transfer process, which uses liposuction to remove unwanted fat pockets from a targeted area of your body before injecting it into your butt.
Is A Butt Lift Right For Me?
Ideal candidates for a butt lift or Brazilian butt lift procedure are physically healthy women, at a normal weight, who have skin with adequate firmness and elasticity, and who have realistic goals.
How Is A Butt Lift Performed?
The Brazilian butt lift is a comprehensive procedure that combines liposuction with the transfer of the patient’s fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks.
General anesthesia is used for this surgery. It is considered an outpatient treatment and typically takes about 2 – 3 hours (this depends on the amount of fat that is being removed and reinstated). Liposuction will be the first step, extracting fat from specific locations on the body, including the hips, abdomen, lower back, and thighs. This treatment of fat removal is performed with the highest quality and safety. The fat tissue is protected from the open air since it is purified in a closed and sterile centrifuge system. After this process, viable and healthy fat tissue is carefully harvested and put into syringes. The final step is the injection process, where the healthy fat tissue is reinstated layer-by-layer, followed by a gentle massage to ensure the surface is even and smooth. This process is repeated multiple times until the desired size and shape have been attained.
How Should I Prepare For A Butt Lift?
Some suggestions to help you prepare for your butt lift procedure.
- Stop using Aspirin and Ibuprofen. Dr. Kaplan and his team will provide you with a complete list of medications and herbal supplements to avoid before your surgery.
- Quit smoking cigarettes for at least two weeks before and one week after your surgery. Nicotine can impair circulation and healing.
- Avoid drinking any alcohol for two weeks before your butt lift procedure and one week after surgery.
- Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your butt lift surgery.
What Is The Recovery Process After A Butt Lift?
After your butt lift or Brazilian butt lift procedure, you can expect to have some bruising, swelling, and pain. A loss of sensation in the areas treated is normal and should be restored shortly. Swelling may last over several months. Pain medication will be prescribed if needed to control any discomfort. You should be up and walking around a few days after your butt lift surgery. Special compression garments will be provided for you to wear for up to a month to help ensure the treated areas will heal properly with the new contour of your buttocks. High-impact activities should be avoided for at least one month, including jogging, running, and any type of bouncing.
Butt Lift FAQs
How much of the fat can I expect to keep permanently?
This greatly varies from person to person, but most patients can expect to keep about 60% of the total transferred fat (volume). After about five months, the amount of fat that remains is assumed to be permanent.
What happens when I lose weight after my surgery, will my buttock size decrease?
The buttock size can increase or decrease depending on your overall body weight fluctuations. If you happen to gain weight, you may see an increase in the size of your buttock as well as your entire body. If you lose weight after your butt lift surgery, your buttock may get smaller.
How long is the recovery from a Brazilian buttock lift?
Most NJ and NYC patients will take 4–7 days off from work to recover from a buttock augmentation (Brazilian buttock lift).
When can I begin exercising after my butt lift?
We recommend that patients avoid exercising for about 4–7 weeks after surgery. After your post-surgery evaluation, Dr. Kaplan will advise you when you can begin doing any exercises.
Can I have other procedures done at the same time?
It is possible to perform other procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck, or breast augmentation at the same time as your butt lift to further enhance overall body shape and proportion.
What is the cost of the Brazilian butt lift?
The average total cost of butt augmentation and a Brazilian butt lift in NJ and NYC is around $7,000 to $13,000. The fee varies slightly depending on the amount of fat that needs to be extracted to achieve the desired result and the experience of the plastic surgeon.
