Fat Transfer New Jersey

A fat transfer procedure, commonly known as fat grafting, moves fat from one body area to another to restore volume. If you’re looking for a fat transfer in New Jersey, get in touch with our team to organise a consultation with Dr Kaplan, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

When an individual loses weight or moves through the normal aging process, they lose that smooth and plump look in certain body features where volume once resided. A new way to restore volume that has been lost is through an aesthetic procedure known as fat transfer, also known as fat grafting.

What Is A Fat Transfer?

A Fat Transfer takes fat from a section of the body and reinstates it into a specific place that could benefit from additional volume. Fat transfer procedures can be performed on widespread areas, such as the breasts or buttocks, or small areas, such as the lower eyelid, cheeks, or lips. Fat transfers are generally chosen when patients hope to have a natural enhancement rather than fillers or implants.

Dr. Gordon Kaplan is skilled at using the most advanced grafting techniques for performing fat transfers. This body contouring treatment at The Kaplan Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery creates gorgeous, soft outcomes for our patients in Edgewater, NJ.

What Are The Benefits Of Fat Transfer?

A personalized fat transfer procedure designed by Dr. Kaplan helps you achieve your aesthetic goals with several great benefits for both the face and body that include:

FACE

  • Reduces wrinkles, lines, and other signs of aging
  • Restores lost volume (cheeks, eyes)
  • Enhances the lips and cheeks
  • Achieves a more youthful, rejuvenated look

BODY

  • Eliminates unwanted fat from problem areas
  • Improves the shape and size of the breasts and buttocks
  • Shapes and contours the body
  • Slims and tones
  • Results look and feel natural
  • Safer because it uses your fat
  • Scarring is minimal

Men and women who want more fullness in specific places on the face or body that appear deflated and flat may be appropriate candidates for a fat transfer. This specialized enhancement is even more advantageous because it offers a natural approach to creating results by using the patient’s fat tissue. With this method, there is less risk or worry of rejection. Both women and men who are considering this treatment should be at a healthy weight and have fat to extract for the transfer.

How Are Fat Transfers Performed?

When undergoing a fat transfer, you will be placed under some form of anesthesia. The type of sedation or numbing medication will depend on how much fat tissue is being removed, including the location where it will be reinstated. Liposuction is first performed using a special cannula to delicately remove the fat so it can be purified and harvested inside a centrifuge (which preps the viable fat for syringes). After prepping the injection site, the fat will be added to the area of concern. The injection process is completed in layers until the desired outcome has been attained. For some areas, multiple injections will be necessary.

What Results Can I Expect From A Fat Transfer?

After the transfer process has been completed, you will begin a healing period. Remember, there are two different areas on the body that require healing: the area involving liposuction and the injection sites. The overall recovery may be longer if a larger section of the body was addressed. As an example, a fat transfer for the lips will generally only require a recovery period of about 1–2 days, whereas a transfer to a more vast body part, such as the breasts or buttocks, can take much longer. Each area will appear red and slightly swollen, but the results can be seen almost immediately. The added bonus is the area where liposuction was used will look slimmer. This procedure yields great outcomes, but there will be some fat that reabsorbs back into the body. In some patients, another transfer may be needed down the road. There is almost no scarring associated with this procedure.

Take The Natural Approach

If you desire fuller lips or want to soften hollow areas or lines, this procedure may be a great option. In addition, a fat transfer works great for the buttocks or breasts. There are many options for enhancement that Dr. Gordon Kaplan can utilize to help you reach your aesthetic goals. This treatment can help you achieve the look you want without choosing to undergo a major surgery that might require a long recovery period or associated downtime.
